Features:
  • Stay in touch with weather conditions trends right outside your door with this weather forecast station and wireless remote temperature and humidity sensor from Ambient Weather.
  • The indoor console displays temperature and humidity levels indoors and outside, and shows daily weather forecasts that help you dress for the weather. The main display receives temperature and humidity data from the included wireless remote sensor.
  • The wireless sensor installs just about anywhere (up to 330 feet away) to report on conditions in the greenhouse, garage, wine cellar or baby's room, places where proper temperature and humidity levels are crucial. The weather station's main console displays a wide range of information in an easy-to-read format on a large LCD. The attractively thin console can be placed on a desktop or mounted to a wall.
  • The unit monitors indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, outdoor dew point, as well as barometric pressure (both sea-level and measured), and features a pressure history chart to track trends. The handy forecast icons let you know at a glance if it's going to be rainy, cloudy, or sunny based on barometric pressure trends.
  • Equipped with an atomic clock, time is set automatically via radio and in synch with the U.S. atomic clock for utmost accuracy. The clock also features an alarm with snooze and temporary back light for nighttime viewing.

5 out of 5 stars My Video review of the Ambient Weather WS-1170   August 4, 2010

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R19MSRTNXP6K8Y I am somewhat knowledgeable about weather stations and I found that for under $30 the Ambient Weather WS-1170 is a great buy. I found that temperature, humidity, and barometer all had accurate readings. It uses a frequency of 433MHz that doesn't interfere my other wireless stuff.
I made a video review if you want to see it.

5 out of 5 stars Good value, But ....   July 23, 2010

Has all the features the previous reviewer noted, so good purchase for the price. Had some issues with the instructions, but the manufacturer corrected those almost immediately!

A very nice feature is that the "Radio-Controlled Clock (RCC)" receiver is in the remote sensor, which in turn sends time info to the main display unit. Since the remote sensor is usually mounted outside and relatively high, it has an optimum reception opportunity, and the main display can be located anywhere within the remote's transmission range.

Shipped promptly, great support.

5 out of 5 stars AT LAST   August 13, 2010

AT LAST, an indoor-outdoor weather station that is simple to set up, easy to re-program if you choose, easy to read, and reliable. And it costs much less than the other brands that I tried and discarded. I tried a Lacrosse wireless weather station and ended up throwing it out. It was an engineering nightmare whose set-up was so complicated and counter-intuitive that it was impossible without the instructions. And it needed to be set-up anew everytime you changed the batteries. Heaven help you if you lost the instructions! The Oregon weather station required specialized tools. I have a lot of optical equipment with screwdrivers of all kinds and sizes, but none worked. I sent the Oregon station back. The set-up of the Ambient is simple and intuitive, with almost everything being done for you. All you need is a standard philips screwdriver. Basically, insert the batteries and it does the rest. Re-setting is simple. The Ambient display is also clear and easy to read. Not so the Lacrosse. Others make the same complaint about the Oregon. The Ambient weather station actually works, and that tells you everything you need to know. The fact that it is much cheaper, delivery is timely, Ambient keeps you informed about the packgage's whereabouts, and confirms delivery are all pleasant extras. Good to find a company at last that treats customers as if they actually matter.

5 out of 5 stars Great first barometer   August 6, 2010

This is a great product. The interface could be a bit simpler for the general public, but I love it. I cant wait for one of the alarms that I have set to go off. I am considering building a Stevenson Screen and avoiding paying $30 to buy the one that they sell.

Really enjoy this instrument. The weather here on the oregon coast gets pretty wild at times and look forward to using it this fall/winter. Thanks for a great product! Thanks Amazon for the fast ordering and shipping!
